This tastefully converted 4,000 sq ft space in Thames Wharf, Hammersmith has been designed as a wellbeing venue for hosting a wide range of events and activities, such as yoga groups, exhibitions, large group classes and workshops. It includes specific resident artists’ studio space and has its own café. Located right by the Thames, it offers a bright and airy space with plenty of natural light and serene views, and boasts an internal courtyard as well.

We were approached by architects Cousins & Cousins who were involved in the project design, in particular with regard to the need for an unobtrusive acoustic curtain, preferably hidden when not in use, and also for curtains with recessed ceiling tracks to be as minimal as possible, as well as cassetted blinds.

Our Specification Advisor researched the best options for the acoustic divider curtain with Cousins & Cousins, and they came up with the Creation Baumann Vario curtain system, used in conjunction with Creation Baumann acoustic fabric, to absorb echo and minimise disturbance to the entrance area from the event space.

We supplied and installed the Vario curtain in Creation Baumann Arno fabric on both sides with a double inter layer of Creation Baumann Noise Silencer fabric.

The installation was challenging because the curtain is hung over a sloping floor between the entrance area and the events space. The curtain needs to sit well on the floor in order to perform acoustically, and there were also issues with cross draughts, which we resolved by including a chain weighted hem.

Elsewhere in the building we supplied and installed Wave curtains in Kvadrat Linex fabric, with recessed tracks for those installed in the yoga space.

Roller blinds to the windows have cassetted headboxes, are chain operated, and are in either our BetaScreen 500 1% screen fabric,

or our ThetaBlock 40 blockout fabric,

both in soft neutral colours to fit in with the light airy ambience of the facilities.

The finished project is very well curated with the blinds and curtains working well with the tranquil scheme. The interior is beautifully designed and includes a fun slide linking the upper floor to the entrance area!
