Service Delivered

Design, manufacture and install of two six-metre motorised curtains on a curved curtain track for the residential breakout space, and our Draper® Flexshade XD Heavy Duty roller blinds for the 10th floor gym.

Located a short walk from the famous Kings Cross Station, Cadence forms part of a new residential building in the Kings Cross Development.

The plot will be home to 163 apartments and contains an internal courtyard, gym facilities and breakout areas for residents.

The Requirement

We were contacted by the main contractor for the project, Laing O’Rourke, to design, manufacture and install two six-metre drop motorised curtains on curved curtain tracks for the residential breakout space on the ground floor.

Due to the height of the curtains and for ease of use for residents, the curtains needed to be motorised and provide a soft finish to the interior décor.

The gym area on the 10th floor also required a shading solution to provide control over heat gain and glare.

The Solution

Following our visit to site to assess both spaces, it was clear significant attention to detail would be required when fixing the motorised Silent Gliss 5600 curved curtain tracks.

And, similarly to our motorised curtains at Battersea Power Station, which you can read about here, our team needed to work at height to surface mount the track for the motorised curtains within the small space provided.

Our site team worked closely with Silent Gliss and templated the tracks to a precise curved recess pocket, measuring 7.1m and 9.8m in length respectively.

To compliment the finish of the interior and provide a view through to the outside, we used Silent Gliss’ Someo fabric on an 80/140 wave curtain heading, with a minimum of 110% fullness to ensure the wave shape held the full drop of the curtain and looked fantastic.

The motorised wave curtains drawn to reveal the colour artwork on the wall, with decorative features on the table in front of the wall.

Meanwhile, for the gym area, we designed, manufactured and installed two of our Draper® Flexshade XD Heavy Duty Roller Blinds, both measuring 2m x 2.55m, in Kvadrat Russell fabric.

The Outcome

Though the Cadence project was not at the complexity levels of some of the jobs we have completed recently, like Battersea Engine Room or Piccadilly Lights for example, it exemplifies the meticulous level of detail we put into every project we complete.
