External Blinds

External blinds are the most effective solar shading solution when it comes to preventing overheating in our buildings. Installed on the outside of a building, external shading is the first line of defence against solar heat gain and can significantly reduce our reliance on HVAC systems, which are damaging to the environment and often costly to run.

At Waverley, we're on a mission to encourage architects to specify both external and internal blinds to ensure the chosen shading solution optimises both occupant comfort and energy efficiency. And our range of industry leading systems gives them the chance to do just this.

Our Product Range

External Roller Blinds

External roller blinds provide reliable shading, privacy, and energy efficiencies for buildings such multi-dwelling units. The fabric is retained in the side channels with a zip-lock mechanism to prevent damage in adverse weather conditions.

Using A2 fire-rated fabric, which passes UK regulations, external roller blinds reduce glare and help to regulate internal temperatures, contributing to lower energy costs. Pairing with an automated system, like our S3 Synchronised Solar Shading range, elevates the performance further as they can be programmed to track the position of the sun and adjust the height of the blinds accordingly to prevent overheating in the building.

Inspiration

Television Centre, White City

Take a look into our first major external roller shutter project at Television Centre in White City. Working with our partners Warema, we designed and installed over 560 motorised shutter systems on the project, which we believe to be the largest external roller shutter installation in the UK.

All systems were complete with a bespoke fascia, colour matched to the blinds. Follow the link below to read all about it.

Specification Considerations

With a myriad of systems and configurations available, we're on hand to help architects with all of the specification considerations. Including:

  • What the best product for the requirement is.
  • Level of control - full automation or basic motorisation?
  • Fixing details.
  • Maintenance options.
  • Regulations - Beaufort scale, Part O, fire regulations and more.

If you'd like to discuss specification with our team, follow the link below.
