Our External Shading Systems CPD is RIBA-approved
Following the launch of our new external blind product range earlier this month, we’re incredibly proud to introduce our RIBA-approved CPD, ‘External Shading Systems.’
Presented by our Specification Manager, Dan Voller, the 45-minute presentation is an industry first on the topic and discusses the importance of external shading systems by covering the four areas below:
- Current legislation
- Benefits of external solar shading
- Types of external solar shading
- Considerations for specifying external shading systems
Current legislation
The first section of the CPD looks at the role such products play with regards to the Part O regulations introduced in 2022, TM52 (2013) and TM59 (2017), and the ongoing discussions surrounding fire regulations.
Benefits of external solar shading
Here, we delve into the three key benefits of installing an external systems, exploring topics from energy efficiency to thermal shock.
Types of external solar shading
Architects can see the products in action during this part of the presentation, with our external roller, shutter and venetian samples creating a great sense of intrigue and providing a platform for questions and discussion.
In addition to these three products, we also explore some of the other external shading options available, including shaped, tensioned and large-area systems.
Considerations for specifying external shading systems
Similar to the benefits section, the final part of our CPD explores three considerations that will often determine what type of external blind system can be used for your project.
Delivered prior to RIBA approval to the likes of Studio Partington and Curl la Tourelle Head, the presentation has already been well received, being described as “a great CPD” and “very informative.”
