Plastic-free packaging at our manufacturing facility

By: Oli Birch Category: News

As part of our ongoing commitment to becoming more environmentally responsible, we’re incredibly proud to announce that our manufacturing facility in Luton is now using 100% recycled paper for packaging, effectively replacing all plastic packaging.

The initiative comes as the next step in our broader commitment to sustainability, which has seen us align our strategy with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

  • Decent Work and Economic Growth – Goal 8
  • Industry Innovation and Infrastructure – Goal 9
  • Responsible Consumption and Production – Goal 12
  • Climate Action – Goal 13

The move to recycled paper to replace plastic packaging forms part of Goal 12, and is something we trialled at a recent project for EBRD.

And following the successful delivery of this on the project, we’re excited to now implement this on a permanent basis for all products manufactured in-house.

Project and Operations Director, Bruce James, said:

“We’re delighted to be taking this step to plastic-free packaging to further demonstrate our push towards becoming a more sustainable business. The construction industry still has a fair way to go to achieve it’s net-zero targets, but if we can play our part by making small changes such as this, and by utilising our range of sustainable and recyclable blind fabrics, we feel as though we’re taking responsibility to reduce our environmental impact, whilst continuing to deliver the highest quality products.”

The move to plastic-free packaging is another indicator of our attempts to reduce our plastic waste as a company and continue to focus on using recycled and recyclable materials.

We’ll be publishing more information about our sustainability goals in our 2023 report later this year, which will include:

  • Our headline figures for 2023
  • Progress we’ve made thus far
  • What the next steps are and how our targets align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals discussed above
