Over 160 manual roller blinds, motorised curtains and a bespoke fixing detail for FORA's new smartworking space on Oxford Street.

Located on London’s famous Oxford Street, just outside Bond Street Station, the redesigned Parcels Building is home to FORA’s new stunning workspace.

Comprising of five floors, the building provides a modern space with comfort and wellbeing at the heart of the biophilic design.

Each floor offers a brilliant view of this busy and bustling street, and the build includes a picturesque outdoor terrace opposite the iconic Selfridges store.

The Requirements

We were asked to supply and install ceiling to floor blinds for the meeting rooms and wider office spaces, in addition to high-level motorised curtains for the amphitheatre on the third floor.

As the design put a strong emphasis allowing natural light into the building, the blind fabrics needed to compliment this and allow for a view to the outside.

Furthermore, they also needed to effectively manage solar gain and glare.

Our Solution

Over 160 blinds were installed throughout the building, with the client following our recommendation of using ShadeTech RBL-C roller blinds with Betascreen 90 Fabric.

This PVC coated polyester yarn is ideal for ceiling to floor coverings and met the requirements perfectly.

Bespoke brackets were required to overcome the only slight hurdle we encountered, as we couldn’t drill into the weatherproof membrane. Therefore, our project manager worked with the installation team to design an L-shaped fitting to support the blinds.

Silent Gliss motorised curtain tracks were used in the amphitheatre, with DrapeTech wave curtains creating a modern and impactful finish. The Kvadrat Ginger 2 fabric added to this, offering a soft and natural expression to the wave curtains.

The products complimented the internal glazed partitions installed by SioSystems, helping to create a modern and multifunctional space.

The Outcome

Betascreen 90 proved to be the ideal choice for this project. As the photos demonstrate, the blinds maintain a view to the outside when drawn whilst significantly reducing the amount of solar gain and glare entering the building.

The bespoke brackets functioned well and, crucially, did not alter the aesthetics of the interior. Furthermore, this emphasises how our team are always on hand to offer a creative solution when required.
